Rectus Femoris and Sartorius Muscle Flap for Graft Infection in the Groin
نویسنده
چکیده
Infections of vascular prosthesis are severe adverse events following vascular reconstruction. The incidence varying between 1 and 6 per cent, depending on the anatomical site, with the highest rate occurring in vascular access grafts placed in inguinal and lower extremity incisions in patients undergoing bypass procedures [1,2]. The management of infected prosthetic vascular grafts continues to be controversial. Mostly graft infections were treated by removal with extra-anatomic bypass. In appropriate cases, a graft salvage can be tried. According to the classification by Zühlke and Harnoss explantation of the graft in cases of prosthesis infection without involving the anastomosis is not absolutely necessary [3].

Use of the Anterolateral Thigh and Vertical Rectus Abdominis Musculocutaneous Flaps as Utility Flaps in Reconstructing Large Groin Defects
BACKGROUND Groin dissections result in large wounds with exposed femoral vessels requiring soft tissue coverage, and the reconstructive options are diverse. In this study we reviewed our experience with the use of the pedicled anterolateral thigh and vertical rectus abdominis musculocutaneous flaps in the reconstruction of large groin wounds. METHODS Groin reconstructions performed over a per...

Five dogs with pressure ulcers over the greater trochanter were treated by debridement and transposition of the cranial part of the sartorius or the rectus femoris muscle. Both muscles had vascular anatomy that allowed transposition based on a major vascular pedicle. All wounds healed promptly by primary intention and no ulcer recurred. The cranial sartorius flap technique was easier to perform...
متن کاملThe Marriage of Sartorius and Tensor Fasciae Latae in Treating Vascular Prosthetic Graft Infections
BACKGROUND Vascular prosthetic graft infection in the groin is associated with high morbidity and mortality. This article presents a case series on the use of 2 flaps in the treatment of this condition. METHODS Five patients, mean age 65 years (range, 49-74 years), with significant comorbidity were treated for an exposed and infected vascular prosthetic graft in the groin with a combination o...

Case 1 MG is a 61 year old arthrosclerotic amputee who, following a right popliteal by-pass graft, required a left auxiliary bifemoral by-pass. Unfortunately there was a problem with healing and the vascular graft became exposed in the left groin. The vascularity of the tissue below the transverse abdominal scar was severely compromised and on surgery, it was found there was no viable rectus mu...
متن کاملInfected Groin (Graft/Patch): Managed with Sartorious Muscle Flap
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to review the natural history, clinical outcome and safety in patients undergoing sartorius muscle flap (SMF) for groin infection, including lymphocele. MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the records of patients who underwent SMF in a single center between 2000 and 2009. RESULTS Thirty patients (17 male, 13 female) underwent SMF for groin...
